Karl J. Humphrey was born in Seattle Washington on August 17, 1958 to Richard and Vivian (Rowley) Humphrey. He grew up mostly in New Orleans. He graduated from Northgate High in Walnut Creek, California. He attended Cal State-Hayward. When he was in grade school he had the 3rd best time for his age group in Washington State for the breaststroke.

During his time in California, he married Pamela, and they had a Son named Daniel. He then met Jill in 1990. They loved to travel. In 1993, their son Budd was born.  They moved to South Dakota in 1994. And in 1995, their daughter, Sunshine, was born.

He had various jobs, but he loved his Job at Al's Oasis as being a Cook.

Later he married Roxanne Spink. He was with her for many years. He became disabled which limited him from a lot of things. So, he got Bandit in 2021. He was his best friend and joy in life.

Roxanne passed away and he then moved to the Courtland Apartments. He made many friends there and loved being close to the Bottle Shop.

Karl passed away on June 1, 2026 at home.  Preceding him in death were his mother Vivian, father Richard, and wife Roxanne.

He leaves behind his children Daniel Humphrey, Karl "Budd" Schooler, Sunshine (Steven) Gonzales, brothers Mike, David, and Jim Humphrey, three grandchildren, Charley, Hannah, and Trina Gonzales, and several nieces and nephews
