Kalup Wade McGhee was born on November 5, 1991 in Chamberlain, SD to Kelly Wayne McGhee Sr. and Susan Elaine Isburg.

Kalup Wade spent a lot of time in the Lower Brule, Fort Thompson, and Crow Creek areas and grew up in Highmore, SD with Donny Olson, his Aunt Vicki Isburg, and his favorite sister Lynda Jean. Kalup Wade attended Head Start in Fort Thompson and Kindergarten in the Highmore School District. Kalup Wade attended the rest of his schooling in Lower Brule.

Kalup acquired the nickname "Stubby" from his friends and family. He was always helping Donny in whatever he was doing. Whether it was fixing fence or working on a vehicle or tractor. He also loved to ride his bike with his sister, Lynda. While he was in Lower Brule, Stubby was a little cowboy.

Wherever you saw a group of kids, you knew Kalup was with them, too. There was even one time where he had his parents hauling his little horse in the backseat of their car.

Kalup Wade passed away on May 8, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD at the age of 29 years. Kalup will be forever remembered by his mother Susie and father Kelly, big brother Kelly Jr., and his Aunt Vicki, his cousins Tori, Tia, Taylor, Barbara, Whitney, and Kylie, and many many other relatives and friends.

Kalup is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wayne McGhee, Terry Jandreau, and great-grandmother Hilda Long Crow all on his father's side; his cousin Lynda Grey Owl, grandparents Robert and Jaunita Isburg, great-grandparents Herman and Victoria Isburg and Harvey and Aldena Langdeau all on his mother's side.
