Funeral services for Justin R. GrassRope, 42, of Lower Brule, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery at Iron Nation, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday and Monday at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

Justin Ramon (Augie) GrassRope, 42 passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at his home in Lower Brule, SD.

Born in Chamberlain, SD, he was the son of Justin G. GrassRope and Anita R. (Powers) GrassRope. He attended various schools throughout his early years and graduated from Lower Brule High School in May of 2000. He attended college at Haskell Indian Nations University and Sinte Gleska University. Justin worked in various jobs with the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe and spent most of his time working for the Lower Brule Diabetes Prevention Program as a Fitness Aide.

Justin excelled in football and basketball and made the South Dakota Lakota All Star team. He enjoyed all outdoor activities and spending time with family. He enjoyed playing in Basketball tournaments, collecting several All Tourneys and was a champion of the Lower Brule Men's Basketball League.  He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings.

Justin will be remembered for his good sense of humor, and the love he had for his family and friends. He could always light up the room with his humor and personality. Justin's presence gave his younger siblings, cousins, and friends a sense of security as many looked up to him as a protector.

Justin is survived by his 4 daughters Justina, Thomasina, Karen, Evelyn and Cante GrassRope, and his 2 sons Justin Jr. and Lawrence GrassRope; Brothers Marvin, Lewis (Winnie), Lucas, and Ian GrassRope, sisters Loretta (Michael) Ryan, Leah (Yuma) House, and Justine GrassRope, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Justin and Anita (Powers) GrassRope, paternal grandparents Garfield and Doris (Eagle Thunder) GrassRope, maternal grandparents Raymond and Carol (Dewitt) Powers, and nephews Rolland Grassrope and Odin GrassRope.
