Obituary

Funeral services for June R. Ashes, 61, of Chamberlain, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Fort Thompson Tribal Hall Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Conkicaska Presbyterian Cemetery at Fort Thompson.  Wake services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Thompson Tribal Hall Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave from funeral home on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.

June Rose (Long Crow) Ashes was born May 24, 1961 at Rosebud SD, to Chauncey Long Crow & Violet Fleury. She attended school at Winner School, Mission Boarding School and Crow Creek High School. June worked various position of the CCST, CHR, Ambulance, Child Care, C-store, Lode Star Casino, CC Tribal School & Shelby's.

On March 21, 1983 she met the love of her life, Allan Ashes, Sr. and on December 23, 1992, they were united in marriage at Chamberlain, SD. To this union three sons were born. Kyle, Allan, Jr. and Francis.  Her hobbies were always doing something in the kitchen, cooking, cleaning or helping out at wakes & funerals.

June passed away on November 25, 2022 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain, SD at the age of 61.

Gratefully sharing her life are her sons Kyle Ashes of Ft. Thompson, SD, Allan Ashes, Jr. (Melissa), Francis Ashes of Bismarck, ND and nine grandchildren. One brother Mike Long Crow of Winner, SD, sisters Sharon Long Crow, Deb (Jarrod Johnson), Winnie Stepp, Mary (Mel Rank, Sr.), Lois Long Crow of Ft. Thompson, SD, Patricia & Pam Long Crow of Chamberlain, SD, two adopted sisters, Pamela Brother of All of Ft. Thompson & Earleen Red Bird of Chamberlain, SD, an adopted brother, Doug Rencountre, and Numerous Nieces, Nephews & Cousins.

Preceding her in death were her father & Mother, Paternal Grandparents, William & Rosa (Collins) Long Crow, Sr. & Maternal Grandparents, Harvey & Winnie (Santee) Fleury and Husband, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, uncles & aunties.
