Funeral services for Julia A. Brown Wolf, 78, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 12:00 pm. (noon) February 26, 2022 at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at Stephan, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson, SD.

Julia Ann Brown Wolf made her journey to the spirit world February 21st, 2022, at the age of 78.

Joining her beloved Family, Adele Elizabeth Cadotte (Mother), Henry Joseph BrownWolf (Father), MaryLou Crow (sister), Joseph Philip BrownWolf (Brother), Henry (Jit) BrownWolf Jr (Brother), Ben BrownWolf (brother), Delbert Crow (Brother), Adele Traversie (Niece), Brian Yellow Back (Nephew) Paul BrownWolf (Nephew), Russell and Daniel Wounded Knee (nephews) and Grandson Emilio Jesus Boyzo.

Julia was born had two birthdays one November 6th, 1943 and the other November 7th, 1945, in Wakpala, SD to Henry Joseph BrownWolf and Adele Elizabeth Cadotte.

Julia lived a full and happy life traveling, picketing, rallying, and marching for our future generations and Unci Maka (grandmother earth). She was an art activist, a member of WARN (Women of All Red Nations), a part of one of the largest political rallies in the USA, the "No Nukes" Movement sitting beside artists such as the Indigo Girls and making an appearance on the Phil Donahue show for our Indigenous winyans and a Water protector Of the No DAPL Movement.

Working at the Lower Brule CHR program, Indian Center based in Chicago Il as one of the program Coordinators, As a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools teaching Native American Culture, and her final teaching job was at the Fort Thompson Headstart Program. Julia received her bachelor's degree in Education & Community Development at the Native American Education Services (NAES) in Chicago, Il and later taught for the GED program at NAES helping our youth build a better future. Traveling to Australia twice to bring awareness of Native Culture that it is still in existence and that we as a Native Nation are joined as native nations.

Julia loved music ranging from Led Zeppelin to Patsy Cline. And was very artistic repurposing clothing with her native flair, loved drawing and had a flair with words when she spoke to a single person or large crowd.

Julia is survived by Sisters; Rosemary BrownWolf, Suzie Crow, Maxine Rivas, Darla StrongHeart, Colleen BrownWolf; Brothers, Dale BrownWolf, and Steve BrownWolf. Daughters; Marylou Boyzo and Michelle BigEagle. Son. Dennis BrownWolf. GrandDaughters, Jerilyn and Sherlyn DeJesus, Cante Rencountre, Aaliyah BigEagle. Grandson; Layton BigEagle, along with many Nieces, Nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She adored them all and would mention how beautiful of a family we have.
