Funeral services for John Bruce Steinfeld, 65, of Oacoma will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain, SD with burial in Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain, SD. Visitation will be held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain with a prayer service starting at 7:00.

John Bruce Steinfeld was born in Murdo, SD on April 11, 1953 to Lyle and Evelyn Steinfeld.  The family farmed in Reliance, SD before moving to Chamberlain in 1970.  John graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1971.

He enlisted in the US Army, served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1974.  John attended South Dakota State University and on November 15, 1975 was joined in marriage to Sally Douville.

They made their home on a ranch in Mission, SD, where John was able to enjoy his passions for farming, ranching, and raising his family.  His family moved to Oacoma in 1987 and an abundance of new friendships were made.  John worked for Pepsi, Harry K Chevrolet, and as a CNA at the Chamberlain Nursing Home.  In 2011 John and Sally started a grave-tending business to help family members maintain their loved-ones graves.

John passed away on June 3, 2018 at the age of 65.  Grateful for sharing in his life are his wife Sally; their two children Noah and Sami, two grandchildren Kinnley and Kaislee; three sisters Georgia Simpson, Judy Steckelberg, Jeannie Vermillion, and their families, his Aunt Edna Lillibridge, cousins, and his best dog friend -Tucker.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
