Funeral services for John D. Fleury, 53, of Rapid City, SD will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Crow Creek Community Building in Crow Creek, SD with burial in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Crow Creek, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Crow Creek Community Building in Crow Creek, SD.

John David Fleury "Tatanka Najia" was born January 7, 1971 to Joseph Lyle Fleury and Shirley Diane Red Elk.  He was raised in Fort Thompson and later made his home in Rapid City.

John loved doing hobbies in art and making artwork.  He enjoyed being on the Pow Wow Trail.  He always had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

In his last days, he wanted to reunite his family, brother and sisters to come together as a family and he accomplished that wish with his passing.

John passed away on January 31, 2024 at Monument Health in Rapid City at the age of 53 years.  He is survived by his children Allie Rose Fleury, Tyron Broken Rope, and Janisha Decory; brothers and sisters Joseph Lyle Fleury, Crystal Black Tail Deer all of Rapid City, Martina Payan of Colorado, and Martin Black Tail Deer of Rapid City; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his son Joseph Randall, his mother and father Joseph Lyle Fleury and Shirley Diane Red Elk, his little brother James Dean Black Tail Deer; and his grandparents George and Louise Red Elk.
