June 19, 1931 – December 7, 2019
Funeral services for Jean Moore, 88, of Chamberlain formerly of Kennebec, SD will be 10:00 am Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Presho, SD with burial in the Kennebec Cemetery at Kennebec, SD. Jean Moore passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the Sanford Care Center at the age of 88 years and 6 months. She was married to the love of her life, Raymond, for 69 years.
Margaret Jean Faber was born June 19, 1931 to Art and Vera (Heston) Faber in Presho, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Presho. She attended West Dorman School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Kennebec High School in 1949 and received a teaching certificate from Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD. She taught for one year at Iron Nation School. On June 1, 1950, she married Raymond Moore at the Zion Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four daughters: Betty Jean (Eugene) Mertens, Kennebec, Margie Lynn (Rich) Pierson, Evans, Colorado, Cindy (Steve) Fiechtner, Pierre and Ronda (Mark) Klein, Chamberlain. "Grandma Bunting" cherished her eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and dreamed of her 19th one to be born on December 12th.
Jean was employed at the bank in Kennebec and retired after 27 years of service. She saw God's glory in everything she did whether it was gardening, quilting, baking bread, cookies or rhubarb pie. She ministered to others through her homemade chicken noodle soup. Guests were welcome and coffee was always on. It was a real treat when she made home-made ice cream for special occasions. She was a life-long member of the Busy Bee Club and Zion Lutheran LWML.
In 2017, Jean and Ray moved to Regency Retirement Center in Chamberlain, where they made many friends. She found pleasure in sending cards to people of the Zion Congregation and shared her love of the Lord through the messages these cards carried.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Lela Ann Richmond, Janice Selland, Janet Kobus, an infant brother, Harold, sister-in-law Betty Lou Faber, and three brothers-in-law Joe Mateicka, Roy Richmond, and Knute Selland.
Jean is survived by her husband Raymond, her four daughters and their husbands, her brother Dean (Deb) Faber, her eight grandchildren, her almost 19 great grandchildren, and brother-in-law John Kobus.
