Janet "SueBell" Herron
Sunrise 8/15/1960 - Sunset 4/7/2026
Janet Sue Herrron was born on August 15th, 1960 in Hamburg, Iowa to Mary Ellen Thompson and Charles Herron. Janet joined her parents and siblings; Sandra, Larry, Sharon, Judy and David on the family farm in Missouri. Some of Janet's fondest memories were of living with her oldest sister Sandra in Nebraska. She would laugh and tell stories of all the crazy things she had done as the self-proclaimed "most ornery" child. Janet admired her eldest sister very much and was thankful for Sandra playing the role of "mom" during those years.
During her teenage years Janet moved back to Ft. Thompson with her mother Mary. She attended school in Stephan and worked at the family cafe and bar. Sue Bell loved working at the cafe because she would see friends and family. Years later she would tell stories of how her and her sister/cousin Nupa would get into "mischief" as they worked. Janet claimed her popularity grew because she had access to after-hours beer from her mother and Bill's beer window-chute in Gingways Housing. Those of you old enough to remember, well you know.
While in High School Janet met Al Drapeau and soon after her first child, Jeremy Herron, was born. Janet would go on to pursue CNA work and training in Chamberlain, SD and later in Florida and Colorado . Janet was a free spirit who enjoyed every moment in life. Always standing up for what was right and never afraid to use her voice, if she had something to say she was going to say it. While living in Denver, Colorado Janet gave birth to two more children. Benjamin LaSalle and Mary Ellen. With her two kids she would make homes in Denver, Minneapolis and Chicago. In 1992 she would give birth to her baby, Micah Romel.
Janet loved laughing, loved music and loved her friends. In her later years after the passing of her son Jeremy, Janet dedicated her life to her grandchildren. She absolutely loved being the wild granny. She would bake cookies with the grands and play board games with them on the weekends. She later told on herself that during these games with the kids she would let them cuss if they kept it a secret between them. Janet created many memories for her grandkids to remember.
On April 7th, Janet would succumb to her fight with liver cancer at the age of 65 years. Grateful to have shared her life are her son Benjamin LaSalle Brown of Lower Brule, SD; Daughter Mary Ellen Brown of Chicago, IL, Micah Romel Brown of Big Sandy, KY; Brothers; Larry Herron of Lipan, TX, David Herron of Omaha, NE; Sisters Sandra and Jim Garrett of Elk Horn, NE, Sharon Olson of Crawfordville, FL, Judy Meek of Tarkio, MS, Kelly Waltz of Delaware. Grandchildren; Jatonne, Jeremy, Jered, Aleshawnee, Jeren, Jacob, Ephraim, Leighton, Legacy, Eden, Essynce, Haizyn, Benjamin, Malaya, Mia, Majesty, Legend, Kaison and Amyra. Two great grandchildren; Genevieve and Vera. Along with all her cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; Mary and Charly. Her son Jeremy Herron. Paternal and Maternal grandparents. Special cousins Tommy Tinker and Sandra Thompson. Best friend Estellene St John.
