Jamie Richard Norton was born April 23, 1977 to Victorine Faith "Pumpkin" Middletent and Ron Norton in Chamberlain, SD. Jamie grew up in the Fort Thompson area and attended school in Fort Thompson, as well as Pierre Indian Learning School for a short time. Jamie was given the nickname, "Pasu", by his grandmother Adeline Middletent. When he was a baby his grandmother Adeline, thought that he had the "cutest nose ever", and started calling him, "Pasu". The name stuck and other family members began calling him by this name and therefore, he will always be remembered by family as "Pasu".
Jamie always appeared to be quite a person and appeared to be very humble. Jamie was always willing to help those when they needed help whether it was simple stuff from taking the trash out to giving you his last dollar. He would do so and not expect any type of repayment. When Jamie became an adult, he ended up moving to Riverdale, CA for a short time where he met and married Dawn Bradbury. From this union, he was blessed with two daughters; Ladonna and Evelyn Norton. Jamie and Dawn ended up parting ways and Jamie returned to South Dakota and lived in various places but always returning to Fort Thompson. Jamie eventually met his special friend Julie Black Elk, and this is who he spent much of his later years of his life living with.
Jamie's sudden passing left many of his family members and friends shocked, but he will be remembered with positive, happy, and funny memories. Jamie will be laid to rest at the All Saints Cemetery with the rest of his family. Meeting him in the Spirit World will be his mother Victorine Middletent, grandparents Adeline and Ernest Middletent Sr., uncles Winfred (Soby), Donald, Fred (Jack), Stanford (Muchie) Middletent, aunts Ernestine Azure, Irene, Caroline, and Ruth Middletent, nieces April Cournoyer, Ashely Crazy Bull, nephews Perry and Thomas Middletent.
Jaime passed away on April 18, 2024 at Chamberlain, SD at the age of 46. He is survived by his brother Steve (Francine) Middletent, sisters Deana Eare, Ronnette Norton, and Aris Crazy Bull, three children living in California, uncle Dave, and many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
