Funeral services for Huey Cain Gage Stepp-O'Dea, newborn son of Lashawn & Matthew Stepp-O'Dea, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Conkicaska Presbyterian Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the Fort Thompson Community Center in Fort Thompson, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave from funeral home on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Huey Cain Gage Stepp-O'Dea, entered life on November 27, 2025 at 9:41 p.m. and was called back to the Creator at 11:23 p.m. on November 27, 2025.  Although his life was short lived, he was deeply loved by his parents.  The moment they found out of his life in the womb, was full of excitement and joy.  He was coming to a family full of love and a warm loving home.  We felt his kicks and movements.  We sang to him and would talk to him. We were not expecting him so early and we will miss him every day.

He is survived by his mother and father LaShawn and Matthew Stepp-O'Dea, his sisters Tatanka "Buffy" O'Dea, Wambli "Birdy" O'Dea; his brothers Matthew O'Dea Jr., Jesse O'Dea, and Thayer Andrews; his great grandmas Faith Christine Spider and Cheryl Shields; his great grandpa Vincent Thompson Sr.; his grandmother Shirley Drapeau; grandfathers Matthew John O'Dea, Burton Stepp III, uncles Trent Cain Stepp, Terry St. John Jr., Tristan St. John, Santanna St. John and Memphis St. John; aunties Aleeyah St. John and Alicia O'Dea; and his many uncles, aunties, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his grandmother Amy Marie Thompson, grandfather Tyrone S. Stepp, uncle Treyton Gage Thompson, auntie Nicole Marie "Pumba" Drapeau, and great grandmother Grace Elizabeth (Ree) Donner.
