Funeral services for Herbert L. Mullenix, 65, of Pierre, SD will be 10:00 am Friday, August 27, 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson with burial in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at Stephan, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.
On June 17, 1956, a beautiful life came in to being, Herbert "Herb" Lee Mullenix, who was born to Lee R. And Lena Mae (Wounded Knee) Mullenix. From the very start of his life, Herb was unconditionally loved and giving. He attended school in Schuyler Country, Missouri, graduating in 1974. He later went on to attend Haskell Jr. College. His attendance there led to working for the City of Lawrence, KS. He always made a friend wherever he went.
On February 18, 1987, he welcomed his daughter, Stacy Lee. Herb made many adventures along his travels, finally settling down in Pierre, SD. He found the love of his life with his wife Cheryl Voice.
The world was unable to hold the wealth that filled his heart. His life reflects his greatest love for his wife, daughter, family, and friends.
He began his journey on Friday, August 20, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife Cheryl V. Mullenix of Pierre, SD, his daughter Stacy L. Carter, his brother Terry D. Mullenix and Anna, his sister Patsy S. Preller and Richard, a Hunka daughter, Jessica Voice, who helped care for him during his illness, grandsons Breyton and Liam Carter, Kolby Conklin, special grandson Jordan "Pokerface" Howell, Bryant Howell, special granddaughter Audra "Little Chick" Howell and many other family and friends. He is also survived by his maternal Aunt Velma Fleury and maternal Uncle Ronnie Wounded Knee.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his two brothers, a daughter Lena Mae, grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, whom he loved greatly.
