Obituary

Funeral services for Hattie R. Thigh, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 1:00 pm Friday, July 10, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Thompson with burial in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD.  Wake services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Fort Thompson.

Hattie Rose (Comes Flying) Thigh was born September 20, 1950 to Melda (Red Water) and Floyd Comes Flying Sr. at Fort Thompson, SD.  She was one of nine children from the Kin-Ya-Ku Family.

Hattie attended elementary school and graduated from Gann Valley High School.

Hattie met and married Orville and to this union three children were born Lynette Lynn, Melanie May, and Orville Jr.

Hattie worked for the BIA in the Fort Thompson and Sisseton Offices.  She transferred back to her home agency and that is where she met Wally Thigh.  They were married and to this union they adopted Allery Aaron.  Hattie and Wally loved all their grandchildren and great grandchildren in which she was raising two grandchildren and three great grandchildren at the time of her passing.

All the kids thought Grandpa Wally and Grandma Hattie were golden!

Hattie passed away on July 4, 2020 at home at Fort Thompson at the age of 69 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her husband Wally; three children Lynette (Royce) ; Orville Jr.(Rebecca), and Allery (Summerdawn); a sister Phyllis Comes Flying; an adopted sister Eleanor Thunder; a very special cousin Sorena (Patty) Ree; and many other family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents Floyd and Melda Comes Flying Sr. and daughter Melanie May Walking Eagle.
