Funeral services for Gladys Weiland, 100, of Chamberlain will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial in Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Gladys Irene Millan was born November 2, 1909 to Stanley and Martha (Duxbury) Millan at Canton, MN. Gladys attended school in Oacoma until her senior year and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1927. As a young girl, she played the piano for church, funeral, and even played for concerts. In 1928, she worked at the State Bank in Oacoma. In 1932, Gladys was united in marriage to Theodore E. "Ted" Weiland. Ted passed away on June 21, 1949 leaving her to raise their six children Joan, Barbara, Bob, Arlis, Myrna, and Jim. She worked for 20 years in the Auditor's Office at the Brule County Courthouse in Chamberlain.

Gladys passed away on June 21, 2010 at Sanford Mid Dakota Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 100 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her six children Joan Myers and husband Buddy of Pukwana, SD, Barbara Lane of Sioux Falls, SD, Bob Weiland of Chamberlain, SD, Arlis Schreiber and husband Don of Rapid City, SD, Myrna Arnburg of Coleridge, NE, and Jim Weiland and wife Mary of Wichita, KS; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, a brother, a sister, and a great granddaughter.
