Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, SD.

Geoffrey Paul Peterson, 33, of Chamberlain, SD passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain. He was born on February 5, 1992 in Mitchell, SD to Steve and Lynn (Herder) Peterson.

Geoffrey was known for his smile and pinches. Despite his challenges, he filled our lives with love and wonder. He found joy in music, rough housing with his brothers, and being outdoors--most especially camping with his family in his younger years and going for walks. Geoffrey has touched the lives of many over the years. He will be remembered for that famous smile of his and of his strength and resilience in spite of all his surgeries and hospital stays throughout his life.

Geoffrey graduated from Chamberlain High School. He was a resident of Dakota Milestones in Chamberlain and spent many happy years there.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents Steve (Lynn) Peterson of Chamberlain, Lynn Herder of Chamberlain, brothers Jacob (Allie) Peterson of Sioux Falls, SD, Zachary J. Peterson of Seattle, WA, and nephew Peterson, who will join the family in June.  His stepbrothers Tate (Dory) Hanson of Lead, SD, Ty (Stella) Lloyd of Chamberlain, SD, Hayes Miller of Vermillion, SD and Levi Miller Sioux Falls, SD.  Aunts and Uncles also grateful for having known and loved Geoffrey are Jody (Terry) Kintigh, Todd Peterson, Karen Lester, Paul (Songae) Herder, Cheryl (Erik) Hansen, Janice (Ryan) Phifer, and Mary (Don) Vaske.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents Paul and Mary Herder and paternal grandparents Norman and Janice Peterson, and his uncle, Stan Lester.
