Funeral services for Gary K. Lester, 78, of Chamberlain will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain with burial in the Reliance Cemetery at Reliance.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral services.

Gary K. Lester, 78, of Chamberlain, SD passed away on July 7 ^th , 2022.

Gary Kent Lester was born April 21, 1944 at Chamberlain to Carl A. and Irene (Farnsworth) Lester.  He attended school at Chamberlain and graduated from Chamberlain High School.  He attended South Dakota State University in Brookings receiving his Master's Degree in Psychology.  He was a counselor at Lake Preston High School for a few years before moving to Rapid City and began his business career.

He enlisted in the military and served his country.

After semi-retiring, Gary moved to the Chamberlain area where he made his home enjoying golfing with his friends.

He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gary was a good-hearted and caring man, to animals as well as humans, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Always had a funny response and those who knew him were all the better for it.  Anybody who knew him knows that he loved the game of golf which was one of his true joys in life.

He is survived by his two daughters Gina Hakim and Jami Jackson, seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, a sister Connie Uhre, and a brother Greg Lester.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Steve.

He will be surely missed.
