Garrett James Hawk, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend was tragically taken from us on July 1st, 2023, as a result of random violence. Born on December 21, 1988 to Kimberly Big Eagle and Earlwyn "Tuffy" Hawk. Garrett's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family and his selfless nature. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Garrett was employed at the Lode Star Casino, where he served as a security guard and held various other positions over the years. He was also known for his hard work as a laborer for the tribe, contributing to the betterment of his community. But it was his role as the protector of his family that truly exemplified his character.

Every morning, Garrett would make his rounds, ensuring the well-being of his friends and family. Family meant everything to him, and he consistently went above and beyond to express his love and care. He had a special fondness for his nieces and nephews, always going out of his way to bring them joy. It was not uncommon to find him using his last bit of change to buy "hot chips" for them, creating memories that will forever be cherished.

Garrett will be forever remembered by his Father Tuffy and siblings, his brothers Phillip, Ramon and Chris Bear Face, as well as his sister, Shaynna (Johnny) Wounded Knee, Andrea and Haley. He held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, Mariah, Diamond, Jayen, Selena, CJ, Legacy, Tayden and Granddaughter Asteria. Also, many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Garrett James Hawk will be remembered as a loving and selfless soul who brought light into the lives of those around him. His untimely departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of compassion, devotion and volunteer work with the catholic church will continue to inspire us all. May his spirit find eternal peace, and may his memory forever guide us in the pursuit of love and unity.
