Gabriel Jerome Wilson, "Wambli Maza," age 22, made his journey to the Star Nation on March 28, 2026.

Gabriel was born on May 12, 2003, in Pierre, South Dakota, to his loving parents, Margaret A. Wilson and Ellwyn Flute. From the very beginning, Gabriel carried a strong spirit and a kind heart that would touch many throughout his life.

He was a beloved grandson to his great grandmother, Irene Skunk, grandmothers, Wilma Wilson, Cindy Fire Cloud, and Tracy Ewing, grandfathers Merle Wilson and Kenny Madison and aunts Shary FC, Jessica Wilson and Kamela W. who loved him dearly and held a special place in his life.

He was a cherished brother to his sisters, Kiersten Aryah, and Alayna Alys Wilson, a role he held with pride, love, and dedication. Above all, Gabriel was a devoted and loving father to his five children: Virgil, Ka'Lanni, Layla, Kias, and K'nan. His children were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Gabriel shared a special and meaningful bond with his nephew, Elias-Everet, who meant everything to him. He also had a lifelong, unbreakable connection with his cousin, Bo-Everet, a relationship that began at birth and remained strong throughout his life.

Gabriel was known for his unforgettable smile, his warm and respectful nature, and his ability to bring light into any room. He loved to joke, laugh, and spend time with his family and friends. He had a gift for comforting others, always ready to listen without judgment and offer support to those in need. His kindness, compassion, and selflessness defined who he was.

He attended St. Joseph Indian School, where he completed his early education, and later continued his schooling at Chamberlain High School, Lyman High School, and Lower Brule High School. During his life, Gabriel worked as both a laborer and a cook—two roles he truly enjoyed and took pride in.

Gabriel also spent time in Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended treatment at the Urban Indian Health Coalition. During his time there, he built meaningful connections and friendships, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a light to others, even during his own challenges.

Gabriel enjoyed playing video games, basketball, and spending time with his many cousins and loved ones. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those around him.

He would give the shirt off his back even share his last cigarette.  Gabriel's generous spirit was reflected in his decision to become an organ donor, giving the gift of life to others. This final act reflects the selfless and caring person he will always be remembered as.

Gabriel was preceded in death by many dear relatives who journeyed on before him, especially his beloved auntie, January "Bouncer" Madison, whose bond with him was deeply treasured and whose love remained a lasting part of his life.

Gabriel will be deeply missed by his children, parents, sisters, grandmothers, extended family, and all who knew and loved him. Though his time here was far too short, the love he gave and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
