Funeral services for Franklin Paul Drapeau, 66, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Akicita Mato Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at the Akicita Mato Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD.
Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave from funeral home on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
Franklin Paul Drapeau "Doc" was born October 6, 1959 to Gloria Ross, White Mouse and Alphonso Drapeau Sr. Frank attended the Ft. Thompson elementary school and Pierre Indian Learning Center and graduated high school from the McCrossen Boys Ranch in 1977. Frank returned to Ft. Thompson to live his life and worked numerous jobs. His favorite past time was playing nickels & dimes at the Lode Star Casino with his good friend Brian H. and to cheer on his favorite NFL football team, the Denver Broncos.
Frank spent his last few months with his daughter, Angel in Sioux Falls, SD.
November 14, 2025 (Friday), he surprised his family and came home to visit friends & family, where he was happy, content and comfortable to be home, Frankie made his journey Monday evening, November 17, 2025 with his family & friends by his side. He received his Dakota name by his brother Kim and nephews Gerald & Darrell Zephier, Kin ya Ku-Heh ha Ka (Elk Comes Flying).
Frankie is survived by his sisters; Christine "Doll Mouse" Medicine Crow, Mildred "Milly" Ross, Candace "Candy" Bishop, Lori Drapeau & Shirley Drapeau. Brothers: Ronald "Kim" Drapeau, Gary Ross & Alphonso "Woody" Drapeau Frankie's children: Chris "House" Spider, Cheyenne His Law, Angel Drapeau, and Julius Skunk.
Preceded in death; mother, Gloria White Mouse, father, Alphonso Drapeau, Brothers; Richard "Dickie" Ross, Al Drapeau, Harold Wayne Drapeau, Walter "Buddy" Medicine Crow, Antoine "Tweet" Medicine Crow, Quentin Drapeau, Peter Drapeau. Son, Dereck Skunk. Paternal & maternal grandparents.
