Funeral services for Patsy Marquez, 77, of Pierre, SD will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the Conkicakse Presbyterian Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD  with burial to follow.

Florence Mae "Patsy" Kirkie was born January 29, 1943 in Fort Thompson to Leon Kirkie, Sr. and Laura Mae Harrison.

She attended grade school and high school in Mitchell, SD.  In the early 1960's she moved to California.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Marquez on June 26, 1965. Together they raised their children and Patsy managed a See's Candy Store in Simi Valley.  In 1993, she returned to Fort Thompson and began working for the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe.  She later started working at the Crow Creek High School which she did for many years.  In 2016 she moved to Pierre and lived out the remainder of her life.

Some of the greatest joys of her life were her children and extended family.  She loved to take her grandchildren to Pow-Wow's and taking them on the Pow-Wow trail.  She was a kind, caring, very gracious and a forgiving woman.

Patsy passed away on July 9, 2020 at Mary House in Pierre, SD at the age of 77 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her children: Kimberly "Kay-Kay" Robles, Leonard Leon Marquez, Joycetta Morris, and Maria Golan; siblings Elnita Rank, Richard Kirkie and Melby Kirkie; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter Mary Ellen, brothers Leon Kirkie, Jr. and Ronald Kirkie, Sr., sisters Menia Kirkie Mann and Ivadell "Ivy" Kirkie Head, and husband Joseph Marquez.
