Ethan Wayne "Poe" Big Eagle was born on January 8 , 1990, to Tammy Wounded Knee and Orlando Big Eagle Jr in Chamberlain, SD.

A proud member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe. He lived the majority of his life on the Creek Reservation in Fort Thompson, SD. And other times with his sister Shaynna Wounded Knee in Chamberlain, SD and also Pierre, SD.

He attended school at Crow Creek Tribal School up until his 8 th grade year when he decided school just wasn't quite his thing anymore. He would continue on to work various jobs. He worked at the Lodestar Casino here and there, but his favorite was being his uncle Chaske Metcalf co-pilot. They would take care of the St. Joseph Catholic church cleaning and grounds keeping and also helping with the food truck when Feeding Sd would come through to help the community. And doing the grounds keeping for the different cemeteries. Most recently he was acknowledged by Feeding Sd for his volunteer work for the past 12 years. His most amazing and awarding job was being a father to his children (Tameiyah Jade Medicine Crow, Tayden Wayne Big Eagle, and Tristan Lauron Big Eagle) and being a father figure to his nieces and nephews (Mariah Jade Wounded Knee, Orlando J'Shaun Lane Big Eagle-Metcalf, Jayen Hope Wounded Knee, Tammy Amelia Eagle Feather, Cleveland James Kari Jr, Diamond Jewel Marie Sazue, Legacy Dean Wounded Knee) and even some younger cousins.

Ethan loved to draw, write lyrics and dance. He was well known for his amazing moves copied from all the numerous dance movies he loved to watch. He had a heart of gold. He would give anything and everything he had if it meant making someone else's day.

Ethan made his journey to the spirit world on April 15 , 2023 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls SD. Surrounded by those that loved him. Despite knowing and understanding his illness was taking his life. He said I'm going home and pointed to the heavens and smiled. And while we cried, he told us buck up I'm gonna be alright and stick together you guys got this. And to those that were unable to make the journey to say goodbyes he face timed and chatted on the phone with them and would end the conversation with you be good hang in there and I will see you next time around. Because we are always taught it's never goodbye forever its till we meet again.

Ethan is proceeded in death by his two parents Tammy and Orlando. The love of his life Taliyah Big Eagle. And many other relatives and friends who journeyed on. He is survived by his sister Shaynna (Johnny), also including Colleen Rabbit (Roy), Kendall Big Eagle (Torrie) and his cousins brothers John Thompson (Judy), Garrett Hawk, Phillip Bear Face, Ramon Big Eagle, and Chris Bear Face and Roscoe Witt.
