Funeral services for Esther R. Pretty Sounding Flute, 65, of Lower Brule, SD 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Holy Comforter Episcopal Cemetery at Lower Brule, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lower Brule, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave the funeral home on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. (NOON)

Esther Rose Pretty Sounding Flute, entered the spirit world on June 4th, 2026

Esther was born on September 4, 1960, in Chamberlain, South Dakota, She was brought into this world by her loving mother, Isabell Drum, and her father, Virgil Pretty Sounding Flute. Throughout her life, Esther went to Lower Brule high school and St. Josephs.  She was also an RPN in Florida and worked at the tribal hall as a janitor.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness, strength, and love touched the lives of everyone the loss of Esther is deeply felt by all who knew her. Her smile, laughter, and caring nature brought comfort to many. While her absence leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, she had a warm spirit, and a caring heart. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted her life to loving and supporting those she cherished. She loved her grandchildren so much!

She is survived by her children (Rebecca Rodriguez, misty rose, Jacquelyn Rose, Jacob Rodriguez, Elijah Pretty Sounding Flute and her sisters Char Pretty Sounding Flute, Carrie Pretty Sounding Flute, Amanda Pretty Sounding Flute, April Pretty Sounding Flute and their brother Charles Pretty Sounding Flute, Emiel Pretty Sounding Flute, Gladys Pretty Sounding Flute, Delaine Pretty Sounding Flute. Also, her non biological sisters Kim and Roberta Dempsey, Tammy and Travis LaRoche and all the grand kid's. Rose Beth PSF Flute, Cameron Parker and Frank Hall and all our cousin's from Nebraska: Mary Snowball, Grace Snowball, Tom Snoball, Pete Snoball, Rosetta Drum and Alicia Drum And all her family and friends who we forgot to mention.
