Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lower Brule, SD.   Wake services will be 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church Hall in Lower Brule.

Emil (Levi) Floyd Pretty Sounding Flute "Peji" was born at home in Lower Brule, SD on October 16, 1949 to Irene Sadie Goodface and Flute and Daniel Amiel Pretty Sounding Flute.  Levi and Patty met at the age of 16 in Lower Brule and married at the age of 19 on September 1st 1968 at the Episcopal Church. He attended Elementary School at Pierre Indian School, high school in Reliance and Flandreau Indian School. He then attended Auto Mechanics School in Denver, CO. He worked for BIA Roads Department and CHR Director and LB Housing Maintenance for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe and also worked as a patient transport driver for Winnebago IHS in Winnebago Nebraska.

Levi lived most of his life in Lower Brule and Denver CO and his last years in North Sioux City SD.

Levi passed away on July 4, 2024 at Sioux City, IA.  Gratefully sharing his life are his wife Patty; his children Pamela Flute, Daniel Flute, Ronald Flute, Trisha Flute, Markisha Eagle Thunder- Makes Room, Felix Montoya, and step-daughter Sheila Belgarde. He was also survived by 27 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, his maternal grandparents are Eunice Two Hawks- Goodface and Henry Goodface, paternal grandparents Amiel Pretty Sounding Flute and Annie Tompkins - Pretty Sounding Flute, his siblings Delane Flute, Gladys Flute, Emily Flute, Leslie Flute, and his Hunka brother - Clark Zephier.

Preceding him in death were his mother and father Irene and Daniel Flute, twin sisters Janice and Patricia Flute, sister Mary Flute, brother Gene Wilson, sister Sadie Flute  granddaughter Malaina Sazue-Flute, niece Dorri Estes, and nephew Ellsworth "Sonny Boy" Langdeau.
