Funeral services for Elva Jean (Nash) Reuer, 90, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, SD.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, SD.

Elva Jean (Nash) Reuer or called Jeanie by most people, 90, was born on September 8, 1930 to Harley and Belle (Hoffman) Nash at Platte, SD.   She lived in Platte until she was eight years old when she moved with her mother to Academy, SD. She attended school in Platte and Academy, and graduated from Platte High School in 1948.

She worked for John and Lu Ella Reuer in Chamberlain, SD for several years where she met the love of her life for seventy-two years.  She married Alvin Reuer of Reliance, SD in Chamberlain, SD on June 1, 1949.  To this union four children were born: Leroy Reuer, Jelene (Rick Rand), Marlys (Cordie Schlomer) and Cathy Jean Reuer.

They moved to a ranch north of Reliance and lived there for fifteen years before moving to a ranch south of Chamberlain, SD.  She was a resident of the Sanford Chamberlain Long Term Care facility until the time of her death.  She worked as a homemaker.  She enjoyed time spending with her family and dearly loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an excellent seamstress and sewed many outfits for all the girls in the family as they grew up.  She loved working in her garden and also loved crocheting as a pastime.

She served as a Sunday school teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church when living at Reliance, SD.  When moving to Chamberlain she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was also an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League for many years.

Jeanie is survived by her daughter Marlys Schlomer and husband Cordie of Presho, SD; eight grandchildren Matthew Reuer and wife Courtney of Castle Rock, CO, Daniel Reuer of Brookings, SD, Rebecca Reuer/Hansen and husband JD of Chamberlain, SD, Eric Reuer and wife Kayla of Sioux Falls, SD, Brittnie Rand/Ainsworth and husband John of Spearfish, SD, Jamie Schlomer/Griffith and husband Casey of Presho, SD, Stacie Schlomer/Totzke and husband Mark of St. Paul, MN, Abby Schlomer/Bacon and husband Brandon of Dell Rapids, SD and son-in-law Rick Rand of Spearfish, SD, and 19 great grandchildren.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Russell and William Nash, a son Leroy Reuer, two daughters Jelene Rand and Cathy Jean Reuer, a grandson Todd Schlomer and a great grandson Isaiah Reuer both in infancy.
