Funeral services for Tyson Grassrope, 34, of Lower Brule, SD will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Grassrope Family Plot in Lower Brule, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday from the funeral home.

Eltwin Tyson Grassrope was born April 16, 1990, the son of Altwin N. Grassrope and Violet M. (Andrews) Grassrope at Chamberlain, SD.  He attended school in Lower Brule and graduated from Lower Brule High School in May of 2008.  After high school, he attended SDSU before attending the Lower Brule Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Arts and Applied Sciences in 2012.

Tyson enjoyed playing basketball, pool and darts. During his school years he ran cross country, played in basketball tournaments and other activities.   He loved spending time with his pride and joy, his only son, Tywin Evan Grassrope.  He loved to joke with his nieces and nephews.

Tyson worked at various jobs including the Golden Buffalo Casino as a slot technician and later for Lower Brule Sioux Wildlife.

Tyson was a Minnesota Vikings and Duke Fan.  He was kind, caring, generous, and very humorous.

Tyson passed away on December 7, 2024 at Fort Thompson, SD at the age of 34 years.  He is survived by his only son Tywin Evan Grassrope, his five brothers, and five sisters.

Preceding him in death are his parents and grandparents.
