Funeral services for Elmer D. Rockwood, 50, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3 , 2022 at Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at Stephan, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson, SD.
Elmer Dean Rockwood
Elmer Dean Rockwood was born January 25, 1972 in Chamberlain, SD to Randolph George Rockwood and Judy Ann Howe-Rockwood.
He went peacefully in the early morning hours of October 26, 2022 at his home.
He attended grade school in Fort Thompson Elementary, playing for the Panthers. High school was at Crow Creek playing for the Chieftains. Going to State B's one year and State A's the next. After high school, he attended Nemo, Job Corp, learning the trade of Welding.
He enjoyed all sports but especially loved softball, playing in several leagues as a first baseman. Elmer was a 49 er fan and New York Yankee, and a University of Kentucky Wildcat. Hobbies include hunting, fishing, horses, rodeos and throwing horseshoe or two.
He met the love of his life Lisa Lengkeek in January 1997. They were later married on December 1, 2004.
Elmer had six children: Mason, Sara, Kaler, Jackson, Shadow, and his baby girl Ramsey Rose. He also helped Lisa raise her two sons and a very special niece Tahshawna, whom she called dad. From his CC Convenience Store family, a hunka son, Tim Williams.
He was very proud of his son's Indian Relay Team "FRONTLINE RELAY" who are currently 2 nd in the World. He was a member of the Dakota 38 being a descendant of Bone Necklace and Drifting Goose.
Elmer is survived by his mother Judy; his wife Lisa; sons: Mason (Te'a), Carl, Norman, Kaler, Jackson and Shadow; daughters: Sara, Tahshawna, and Ramsey Rose; special nieces Terri, Jamie, Paisley, Priya, and Caitlyn; grandchildren Ariel, Charlie, Valley, Kato Brixlee, Bayla and Kashalyn; uncle Burnette Howe; aunts Eleanor Howe-Dunn, Jeanette Howe-Cane; sisters Sylvia, Randilynn, Brandi, Robin and Rebecca; brother Randy Rockwood, Jr., and many hunka brothers-you know who you are; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father Randy Rockwood Sr., brother Chris Rockwood, paternal grandmother Elizabeth Rockwood-Day, maternal grandparents Walter and Caroline Sargeant-Howe; uncles Robert "Droop" Drapeau, Dewey Howe, Neil Howe, Arnold Howe, Leslie Howe, Reynold Howe, and Donald Howe; aunts Wanda Howe-Harris, Ella Howe-Gibbs, Delores Rockwood-McGhee.
