Funeral services for Edith E. Thaler, 77, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain, SD.  Visitation will begin Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary/scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain, SD.

Edith Ellen Thaler was born June 24, 1945 at Wagner, SD to Edward and Cleo (Obermire) Thaler.  She was raised in the Kimball and Chamberlain area.  Edith attended Kimball School District through the eighth grade.

She loved playing Kings in the Corner, 31, Solitaire, and bingo.  She enjoyed making tea towels and embroidery.

She was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary.

One of her favorite things to do in her later years was to have a "beverage" and pizza with her mother every Sunday.  She also loved to watch Mollie B's Polka Party and Gunsmoke along with listen to polka music.  She was a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center.

Edith passed away on September 3, 2022 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 77 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her sisters Rose (Richard) Leiferman of Smithville, TX, Linda (Mark) Wagner of Chamberlain, SD, Kim (Todd) Barber of Rapid City, SD, and Loraine Thaler; two brothers-in-law Robert Westendorf Kimball, SD and LaVaun Holan of Chamberlain, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters Mary Westendorf and Ruth Holan, an infant niece and great niece Cayla Westendorf.
