Funeral services for Earleen L. "Lorna" Red Bird, 61, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD with burial in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Crow Creek, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave from funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Earleen Lorna Red Bird was born August 29, 1961 to Corrine Mae High Elk and Earlwyn Red Bird.  She was raised in Eagle Butte, SD until 1984 when she met Michael Dennis Metcalf Sr.  Together, they made their home in Crow Creek, SD until 1995 when they moved to Fort Thompson and then in 2019 she relocated to Chamberlain.

Lorna began working at the Headstart office in Fort Thompson in 1995 and later worked as the cook before going on to be a cook at Cedar Shore Resort, Crow Creek Tribal School, and lastly the Smoking Mule where she retired mid-2022.  She also worked at Shelby's Minimart and the Baymont Inn.

Lorna passed away on December 14, 2022 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 61 years.

She leaves behind her sons Lester Robert Metcalf Sr, Michael Dennis Metcalf Jr, Vincent Merle Metcalf, Dennis Michael Metcalf and her daughter Sarah-Mae Linda Metcalf, Grandchildren: Kristen Lauren Rose Metcalf, Nathen Metcalf, Lester Robert Metcalf Jr, and Harmony Jade Redwater, and siblings brothers Gerald Red Bird, and sister Tina Red Bird.

Preceding her in death were her partner Michael Dennis Metcalf Sr., daughter Nicole Estella Metcalf, her parents Corrine Mae High Elk and Earlwyn Red Bird, and brothers Carl Red Bird and Benedict Red Bird.

She loved cooking, working, taking care of kids, helping out others when in needs, hanging out her friends and relatives.
