Funeral services for Dwain Leonard Miller, 82, of Chamberlain, SD will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will be held at a later date.

Dwain passed away November 7, 2022 at Chamberlain, SD.

Dwain Leonard Miller was born October 17, 1940 in Mitchell, SD to Henry Jr. and Dorothy (Schleder) Miller.  He grew up on a farm in Waldro Township, near Kimball, SD.  In 1957, Dwain was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alta Soulek.  To this union, three daughters were born, of which all gave him a run for his money, Cathy, Cindy, and Lori.

Dwain had a love and passion for heavy equipment.  He was proud to share his experiences of building the Big Bend Dam and Interstate 90 as a heavy equipment operator.  In 1973, Dwain started his own business, Miller Crane and Dragline, digging dugouts in the surrounding counties and blading miles and miles of township roads.  Refusing to retire, he worked for R & J Gravel blading township roads until his health forced him to take a break at the age of 81 years.

Aside from watching countless hours of heavy equipment videos on YouTube, Dwain's favorite past-time was B.S.-ing, or as he called it PR work, with anybody and everybody.  He also enjoyed camping with his family and fishing in his earlier years.

Gratefully sharing his life are his wife, Alta; three daughters Cathy (Craig) Blasius, Cindy (Bob) Hosek and Lori (Herman) Boeding; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents Henry Jr. and Dorothy Miller and his brother Jerry Miller.
