Obituary

Douglas Dean Fallis, 63, of Fort Thompson, journeyed to the spirit world on January 17 th , 2021 in his home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 22 nd , 2021 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Stephan, SD.

A wake service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21 st , 2021 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fort Thompson, SD.

Doug aka Gutty aka Smokey Joe from Cocomo, was born on September 20 th , 1957 in Pierre, SD to Cleveland and Ethel (Little Eagle) Fallis. He was a baby of six brothers and sisters.

Doug went to Crow Creek High School and graduated in May 1975. Doug went to school at the Sioux Empire College in Hawarden, IA obtaining his associates degree in 1982. He joined the US Army National Guard in 1987. He was later honorably discharged.

In 1985 he married the love of his life, LeToy Fleury, aka Momma Fox. To which their daughter, Louise Mae Fallis, was born.

Doug held various positions including Councilman to the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe.

Doug was known for his kindness towards others and his helpfulness to all who needed it. He was genuine and loved his family. He loved to laugh and make others laugh and have fun. He was a Traditional dancer, Sundancer, and Lakota singer.

Doug is survived by his daughter Louise Fallis, six grandchildren, brother Bob (Nikki) Fallis, sisters Linda Fallis and Delores (Virgil) Crowe.

Preceding in his death are parents Cleveland Sr. and Ethel Fallis, brother Cleveland Fallis Jr. and sister Bonnie Drapeaux.
