Funeral services for Doris M. Goodman, 95, of Chamberlain will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain with visitation beginning one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.

Doris Marie Sondergaard was born July 25, 1923 in Lyman County to Chris and Anna Sondergaard.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Hamill, SD.  She attended grade school in the Lindgren Country School down the road.  She attended high school in Winner, SD graduating in 1941.  She then went on to obtain her teaching degree in Springfield, SD.  In 1946, she began teaching and taught at various country schools in Lyman Co.

Doris was united in marriage to Floyd "Buss" Goodman on January 27, 1946.  To this union two sons were born James Allen and Daniel Gene.  She taught school in Chamberlain retiring after 45 years.  Floyd and Doris had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.  Floyd passed away on December 24, 2007.

Doris passed away on December 20, 2018 at the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD.  Gratefully sharing her life are her sons Jim (Jeanne) of Pierre and Dan (Diane) of Chamberlain; one granddaughter Anna Rose; two grandsons Greg (Wanda) and Allen (Sadie); and four great grandchildren Jackson, Allison, Piper, and Emmett along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, a sister Irene Bunker, and a brother Jack Sondergard.
