Funeral services for Dianne Michalek, 66, of Lower Brule, SD will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lower Brule, SD with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lower Brule, SD.

Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave from funeral home on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.

Dianne Michalek was born on February 6th, 1956 to Melvin Michalek and Irene (Desheuquette) Michalek.

Dianne went home to be with the Lord on May 20th, 2022 at Sanford Mid-Dakota Hospital in Chamberlain at the age of 66 years. Dianne attended school in Terraville SD and graduated from Lower Brule High School. She grew up in Terraville SD before moving to Lower Brule South Dakota in 1969.

Dianne was blessed with her only child Ann'D in 1983. She was employed with the Lower Brule BIA Law Enforcement for 25 years as the Lead Telecommunications Equipment Operator. Dianne's years of service with the BIA were from November 16th, 1986 to September 30th, 2015.

Dianne enjoyed working and being around her co-workers. She also enjoyed going to the casino, playing on the computer and sitting around talking with family and friends. Dianne was always up for a cup of coffee or tea. She loved being around her nieces and nephews and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dianne was Known as "Grandma or auntie Di" by her nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Dianne grew up with her brothers and sisters and her good friend Dena Harmon whom she considered her sister. Dianne was a very respectful woman and a very well respected woman throughout the community. In her later years she stayed at home and watch the grandchildren grow up. She will be missed by all her family and friends and all who loves her.

Dianne is survived by her Sisters Janet Big Eagle of Lower Brule SD., Patsy (Francis "Sonny Peck") Michalek of Chamberlain SD. Her Brother Dallas (Carla) Michalek of Lower Brule SD. Daughter Ann'D Michalek. Nephews Melray Grey Owl, Hank Fast Wolf and Michael Michalek all of Lower Brule SD. Darrell Michalek of Cheyenne Wyoming. And Christopher Grassrope of Mitchell SD.  Nieces Tammy (Mike) Kirsch of Mitchell SD, Nicole Grey Owl of Denver Colorado, Kara St. John, Neoma Michalek and Theresa (Donovan) GrassRope all of Lower Brule SD, Lynda and Monica Michalek of Chamberlain SD, Melissa (Juan) Castillo of Clarion Iowa.  Grandsons, Everett and Shane Greyowl, Kyran and Cayden Medicine Eagle, Iren GrassRope, Joe Mousseau and Gabe GrassRope, Jimmy and Ty Michalek all of Lower Brule SD. Timothy Kirsch and Cody Medicine Eagle both of Mitchell SD, Juan, Jaime, Devin, Jordan, and Elias Castillo. The grandsons in Iowa.  Granddaughters Brianna and Alyssa Kirsch of Mitchell SD. Irene and D'kera GrassRope of Sioux Falls SD, Daylon GrassRope and Tristin Michalek both of Chamberlain SD, Alicia Mousseau, Kyla St. John, Dallas Hansen, Lesley Hansen, Selena GrassRope, Betty Jo LaRoche all of Lower Brule SD, Amanda Grey Owl of North Dakota, Monica Michalek, Joannie Holst, Dannette, Tamma and Mary Dushie.

Dianne is preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Irene Michalek, her Brother Darrell and Sister Gwen Michalek and maternal grandparents Peral Fogg and Jaspers Desheuquette.
