Maruska
October 5, 1954 – June 8, 2024
Diana Lee (Langdeau) Maruska
Ogligle-Wakhan Win – Angel Woman
Diana was born on October 5, 1954, in Pierre, South Dakota to Orville C. Langdeau, Sr. and Velma Irene (Augustine) Langdeau. She is an enrolled member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. She attended Parkview Elementary School in Fort Pierre, South Dakota. Eventually, her family relocated to Lower Brule, South Dakota where she attended school and became part of the first graduating class of 1972. She went on to further her education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She later returned to Lower Brule and started work at the Planning Office with Abe Langdeau.
On May 17, 1976, Diana gave birth to her one and only baby girl Tiauna Marie (Langdeau-Thompson) Obago. She also worked as Clerk of Court with Helen Smith and her Aunt Rose McCauley. Later, she moved on to work as a dispatcher for the Lower Brule Police Department. In 1992 Diana worked as the Gaming Manager at the Golden Buffalo Casino. In late 1999 she met her husband Bennett Maruska, while working at the Squeaky Door Market.
In 2000 Diana moved to Bagley, Minnesota with Bennett and married him on March 19, 2003. During this time, she found her passion for gardening, canning, hummingbirds, sewing, reading, baking, and cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her and her husband's friends, Leo & Cathy Arnold. She started work at TEAM Industries as a Quality Inspector until she retired in early 2020. After the loss of her beloved husband and dog Ceasar on October 31, 2020, she moved back home to live with her daughter Tiauna until she moved into her tiny home (which she loved). During her time home she loved to spend time with her family, especially her baby girl Tiauna who she loved and adored so much, Joe (her little sidekick), best friend Gwen Jandreau, Cousin Cheryll LaRoche, and visits with her friend Benjamin Thompson, Jr. She also enjoyed attending the monthly Elderly meetings and was a proud donor to St. Judes Children's Foundation
