Funeral services for Derek M. Skunk 33, of Lower Brule, SD will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Lower Brule, SD.  Wake services will be Thursday and Friday at 7:00 pm at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule.

Derek Marcel Skunk (Wanbli Isnala) was born July 28, 1986 to Beverly Skunk.  He attended grade school and high school in Lower Brule, SD.

Derek was such an nice, quiet, and care free person.  He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.  He was blessed to be raised by two wonderful, loving and caring women.. his mother and his grandmother Irene.  He loved them both with all his heart.

Derek passed away on July 26, 2020 in Lower Brule, SD at the age of 33 years.  Gratefully sharing his life are his grandma Irene Skunk of Lower Brule, SD; sister Lydia (Shane) Sazue of Lower Brule, SD; brothers Julius Skunk Sr. of Lower Brule, SD, Joseph (Alexis) Skunk of Detroit, MI, and Jarvis P. Skunk of Lower Brule, SD; nieces Josette Pretty Sounding Flute, Taylee Skunk, and Josephine Sazue; nephews Amiel Pretty Sounding Flute Jr., Julius Skunk Jr., William Sazue, and Wakinyan Sazue; aunts Lucille (Tim) Skunk-Marshall of Lower Brule, SD, Ella (Woody) Skunk-Drapeau of Fort Thompson, SD, Josephine Skunk of Lower Brule, SD, and Fedelia Skunk of Lower Brule, SD; uncles William Johnson of Fort Thompson, SD, and Jarvis K. Skunk of Lower Brule, SD; and numerous cousins and relatives.

Preceding him in death were his mother Beverly Skunk; grandpa Joseph P. Skunk; uncles Cleveland F. Skunk, Joseph W. Skunk, and Jolon Skunk; and aunts Susan Skunk and Shannon Skunk.
