Deneil David Lutter was born September 19, 1953 to Bernard W. and Clara (Kortmeyer) Lutter.  He attended elementary school at Gann Valley and graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1971.  He began college at SDSU for a semester before enlisting in the U.S. Army for three years being stationed in Germany.  After his discharge he moved to Mitchell, SD.  It was there he met Mary Kollman and they were united in marriage on August 26, 1978.

Deneil worked for Ideal Appliance in Mitchell, SD for several years before moving to Yankton to work in electronics and maintenance.  It was when he was unable to be hired for a position because of a lack of education for that position that Deneil decided to go back to college.

He attended college at Springfield College until it closed and then to University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SDSU at Brookings where he received his bachelor's degree.  He continued on to attain his master's degree in Electronics from Iowa State University.

He began working in teaching at several community colleges, first in Yankton, then on to Creston IA, Pecular, MO, Florida, Alabama, and finally ended up in Beloit, KS for about eight years where he retired.  They moved back to Chamberlain, SD to be near family.

While living in Iowa he served as the Knights of Columbus State Deputy of Iowa.  The Knights of Columbus was very important and he promoted it immensely.

Deneil had a passion for riding motorcycles.

Deneil passed away on May 1, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD.  Gratefully sharing his life are his wife Mary of Chamberlain, SD; siblings Lloyd (Jerri) Lutter of Gann Valley, SD, Tim (Janet Rae) Lutter of Kimball, SD, Lauree (Don) Scott of Gillette, WY, and Jim Lutter of Gann Valley, SD; four sisters-in-law Donna Lutter of Tucson, AZ, Janet Kay Lutter of Beresford, SD, Judy (Gary) Hokkanen of Fort Wayne, IN, Ruth Kollman of Phoenix, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
