Delfreda Marie LeCompte was born July 2, 1970 to Alfreda (LaRoche) and Delano LeCompte at Mid-Dakota, Chamberlain, South Dakota. She attended school at Lower Brule until she became a St. Joe's Brave during 2nd grade. Delfreda attended Job Corp in Nemo, South Dakota then she entered college at Sitting Bull College in Ft. Yates, ND taking Business Management classes. In 1991 she met and married Silas 'Junior' High Elk Jr. and Olivia Jo "OJ" and Shaylene Sheyenne were born from this union. She later met Cordell James Yellow Fat (CJ) they were together until his death. Her daughter, Olivia blessed her with grandsons, Ashton Jade and Jordan Christopher Jr. while her daughter, Shey blessed her with grandson, Liam Alexander Grassrope. Delfreda cared for her two older grandsons until Olivia's (OJ) death.

Delfreda spent parts of her life in different communities including Ft. Yates, ND and Lower Brule, SD with Lower Brule being her final home. She is survived by her daughter Shaylene High Elk; parents: Alfreda LeCompte from Lower Brule, SD and Delano LeCompte from Ft. Yates, ND; sisters: Dawn (Darrell) Middletent, Denise (Wakiyan Peta) Lightning Fire, Marlys Langdeau, Delores LeCompte, Sandra LeCompte, Cindy Raders, Regina Langdeau, LaRita (Brian) LeCompte; brothers: Cody (Mona) LeCompte, Sandy LeCompte, Obede LeCompte, Jay Eagle; aunts Norma Defender, Gwen Jandreau, Jeanette St. John, and Doris Soiseth; nieces and nephews:  Bobbie, Crystal, Rikki, and DJ Middletent, Allen Blacksmith Jr., Marcus Goodlow, Quintessa, Jason, Shahayla, and Tina Cook, Marlo Langdeau, Andrea Ross, Aaron, Alyssa, and Danny Box Jr., Cassie LeCompte, Dwight and Mel Dean Rank Jr., Codi Marie Rosette, Sharonna, Tyson Curtis, Shavonne, and Memoree LeCompte, Justin Raders, Shelby, Kristin, and Josie Poulsen, and Carter James Brian Archambault, and special nephew Marty (Mister) Gipp; grandchildren: Ashton Jade, Liam Alexzander, Jordon Christopher, Shaun and Grace, Tripp and Tess, Braden, Jerrica, and Jate, LJ Flute Jr., Kershayna and Brailey, Amelia, Dylan, Jaxxon, and Shyla, Madison, Maci, Chloe and Cambree, Kaysen, Jamey Kay and Emerson, Alena, Sawyer, Jovon, Zach, Tobias, Landon, and Kaylynn, Kane, Reagan, Alec, Caleb, Haleigh, Maleigha, Heavenly, and Gem, Eden and Essence, LaTaya and Prentice, Helixo, Low'an and Wo'wila, and Skylar.

She was preceded in death by: Daughter, Olivia Jo 'OJ' High Elk; maternal grandparents: Sylvester and Olive LaRoche, paternal grandparents: Obede and Cecelia LeCompte; aunts: Joyce White Bull, Jeannie Furhman, Anne Reeman, and Gwen Valandra; uncles: Dean LeCompte, William, Bernard, Sylvester (Bucky) LaRoche Jr.; nephew: Shiloh Rank and Jade Mortenson and special friend Julie Langdeau.
