Funeral services for Darlene M. Norman, 89 of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the River Hills Fellowship in Chamberlain.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain, SD.

Darlene Mae Nodskov was born October 27, 1934 in Omaha, NE to Jesse and Eleanor (Christenson) Nodskov.  Darlene attended school in the Omaha area and graduated from North High in Omaha, NE.  After high school, she worked in a factory in Omaha, NE.

On February 10, 1961, Darlene was united in marriage to Wallace "Wally" Norman in Omaha, NE.  They made their home in the Omaha area until 1970 when Wally took a transfer with the Corps Of Engineers and they moved to Chamberlain.

Darlene worked at the Community Bailey Hospital as a bookkeeper until purchasing the Fabric Inn which she owned for over 20 years.  After retiring, she worked the next 20 years, at the Information/Visitor Center in the Chamberlain Rest Area.

During the winters, Darlene and Wally would travel south.  She was an amazing seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and painting.  She was an avid lifelong bowler and was inducted into the South Dakota Bowling Hall of Fame.  She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and loved to go bowling with them.

Darlene passed away on February 13, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain at the age of 89 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her daughters Sandra Pearson of Belle Fourche, SD, Wanda Parent and Char Brownell both of Chamberlain; ten grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, son-in-law Thomas Parent; a brother Donald Nodskov; and a sister Mildred Agnew.
