Funeral services for Darlene R. Charging Whirlwind, 68, of Lower Brule, SD will be 1:00 pm Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lower Brule with burial in the Messiah Episcopal Cemetery at Iron Nation, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lower Brule, SD.

Darlene Rose Charging Whirlwind was born April 28, 1949 at Pine Ridge, SD to Daniel Good Buffalo and Bertha (Omaha Boy) Good Buffalo.  She grew up in St. Francis and attended St. Francis Indian School and Mission.  She was united in marriage to James Never Misses A Shot in Winner, SD and to this union a daughter Goldie was born.  In her spare time she liked to visit relatives and go to Peyote meetings.  On March 27, 1972, Darlene met Clifford Charging Whirlwind and they were united in marriage on October 27, 1979.  To that union, a daughter Sharon Charging Whirlwind was born.  Darlene worked for the casino for a long time.  She enjoyed friends and relatives.

Darlene passed away on February 25, 2018 at her home in Lower Brule, SD at the age of 68 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her two daughters Goldie Never Misses A Shot and Sharon Charging Whirlwind both of Lower Brule; three grandchildren Deana Never Misses A Shot, Roselayne Hawkwing, and Tria Hawkwing; two great grandchildren Shylee Never Misses A Shot and Dezlynne Long Turkey; many nieces and nephews; and son in law Dmitiri "Bubba" Long Turkey.

Preceding her in death were both husbands James Never Misses A Shot and Clifford Charging Whirlwind; her mother Bertha Good Buffalo; her father Daniel Good Buffalo; brothers Tony and Emanuel Good Buffalo; and sister Goldie Good Buffalo; and a great grandson Darrian Ace Long Turkey.
