Obituary

Funeral services for Cindy L. Thompson, 41, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Crow Creek Tribal Gym in Fort Thompson with burial in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery at Fort Thompson SD.  Wake services will be 8:00 pm Thursday and Friday evening at the Crow Creek Tribal Gym in Fort Thompson.

Cynthia "Cindy" Leigh Thompson was born April 17, 1977 in Chamberlain, SD to Vincent Thompson and Cheryl Johnson Shields.  Cindy grew up in Fort Thompson.  She attended grade school at Fort Thompson Elementary School until 2nd grade when she transferred to St. Joseph's School in Chamberlain, SD until the 8th grade when she graduated.  She attended her high school years at Flandreau Indian School at Flandreau.

Cindy was an all around outgoing person.  She touched many lives.  She had a big beautiful smile and laughter that could fill a room.  Cindy always spoke her mind and was very blunt, honest, and energetic.  It was always a good time with her.  Cindy held various jobs throughout the state of South Dakota; which included a position at the hospital in Madison.  No matter where she worked, she was a very hard worker and dedicated to her job.

Cindy passed away on March 18, 2019 as a result of health problems at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 41 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her parents: father Vincent Thompson of Pierre, SD, and her mother Cheryl Shields of Fort Thompson; brothers Ronnie of Glendale, AZ, Jon of Huron, SD, Vincent Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD, and Tanner and R. J. Shields both of Fort Thompson, SD; sisters Amy Marie of Yankton, SD, Barb Thompson of Tama, IA, Bridgette, Rochelle, Anna, and Leatha, all of Fort Thompson, SD Val & Tara both of Sioux Falls, SD, Sammi and Sara both of Pierre, SD, and Brooke, Autumn, and Sheranda Shields all of Fort Thompson, SD; and also her special friend Doug Lobbins of Brookings, SD.

Preceding her in death were her great grandparents: Ben and Ruth Thompson and Silas and Isabell Johnson; grandparents Ben Thompson and Sissy LaRoche and Horace and Alvina Johnson Slow; a beloved nephew Jacob Taylor Shields; and a beloved niece Jaylayla Rose Hawk.
