Funeral service for Constance E. "Connie" Ducheneaux, 59, Fort Thompson, SD will be 10:00 am Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson with burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at Stephan, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 pm Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Thompson, SD.

Constance (Connie) Ellen Fleury-Ducheneaux was born in Los Angeles, California on February 1, 1961 to Ronald "Sidney" and Velma (Wounded Knee) Fleury. Connie attend school in Fort Thompson and Stephan, SD.  Connie was united in marriage to Robert Ducheneaux, Sr. in Pierre, SD on August 30, 1982 to this union Benjamin Ducheneaux was born on January 14,1993. She worked in various job capacities in her lifetime with several years as the Crow Creek Tribal Personnel Secretary. In 1988, she graduated from Roswell Indian Police Academy in Artesia, New Mexico as a Correctional Officer. She worked for Fort Thompson Correctional Facility as Radio Dispatcher and Guard. She also worked at the Correctional Facility in Fort Washakie, Wyoming for several years. Her last employment was a Correctional Officer/Guard for Lower Brule Corrections Facility until 2014. Connie was a compassionate person who cherished all in life. Her favorite past times consisted of crossword puzzles and reading.

Connie leaves behind her husband, Robert Sr., her son Benjamin, step children Robert Ducheneaux, Jr., Bobbie Jo Sinclair, Donna Ducheneaux, and Joseph Ducheneaux, mother Velma Fleury, uncle Ronald Wounded Knee, sisters Cheryl Shields, Kathy Fleury-Augustine, LeToy Fleury, Diane Fernandez, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and other relatives too numerous to mention. Preceded by her father, grandparent(s) George and Bessie (St. Pierre) Fleury, Herbert (Joe) and Julia (St. John) Wounded Knee, Sr., brothers Donald and LeRoy Wounded Knee, Jr., and other relatives.
