Funeral services for Connie R. LaRoche, 54, of Lower Brule, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Lower Brule, SD.  Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday at the Lower Brule Community Center in Lower Brule, SD.

Connie "Deets" Rae LaRoche was born August 28, 1968 to Erwin "Doe Doe" LaRoche and Roselind Quilt.

Connie attended St. Joseph's Indian School during her early elementary years. Connie then went to Pierre Indian Learning Center where she graduated eighth grade.  She attended Lower Brule High School during her freshman year.  At the age of 16, she went to Box Elder Job Corps in Nemo, SD and then to Trapper Creek Job Corps in Missoula, MT where she met Rick Franceschi, Sr. After Trapper Creek Job Corps, she moved to Colorado Springs, CO with Rick. They had three children:  Nelson Ricky Franceschi, LaVincia LaRoche and Olivia LaRoche.

In 1992, she met John Costello.  They were united in marriage in 1993 and to this union two children were born, Cheryl Costello and Julian Costello.  She also gained three step children Johnna, Johnny Ray and Josiah Costello.

Connie loved to visit, laugh and joke around with her sisters and brothers.  She loved being Auntie Deets and a grandmother.  She always made sure that any time spent with her nieces, nephews, or grandchildren were extra special.

Connie met Floyd Flute Jr. in 2012.  They became good friends and remained friends until she passed away.  In 2020, Connie met her special friend, Johnny Lopez.

Connie lived with her sisters in Lower Brule at the time of her passing.

Connie passed away on April 3, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD at the age of 54 years.

She is survived by her children Ricky Franceschi and LaVincia LaRoche both of Colorado Springs, CO, Olivia LaRoche of Fargo, ND, Cheryl Costello and Julian Costello both of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren: Angelena, Nelson III, Raelicia, Maliek, Jesslyn, Buddy, Theron, Raelynn, Tobias, Kinsley, Zylah, and Zac; her parents Erwin "DoeDoe" LaRoche and Rose Eagle Star; brothers Earl LaRoche, Darrell LaRoche, Jarrid LaRoche, Jasper Eagle Star, Basil Eagle Star, Troy LaRoche and Dillion LaRoche all of Lower Brule, SD; her sisters Anita(Dave) Pretty Sounding Flute, Nancy Eagle Star, Dulcy Eagle Star, Danielle LaRoche, Judy LaRoche, and Margaret "babygirl" Eagle Star, and Melissa LaRoche all of Lower Brule, SD.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents Alex LaRoche, Mabel and Ben Driving Hawk, maternal grandparents Felix Quilt and Sybil Long Turkey; stepfather Jasper Eagle Star; sisters Dori LaRoche and Deidra Bad Horse; brothers Leighton LaRoche and Curtis McGhee; special niece Mariah Edwards; and nephews Wil Edwards.
