Cole Fredrick Hickey was born December 14, 2000 in Mitchell, SD, to Brad and Connie (Feltman) Hickey. The moment he arrived, Cole stole his mother's heart and brought a proud smile to his father's face. "Baby Cole" joined his big sisters and brothers, Raquel, Leah, Wesley, Wade, and Lane, and made the family complete.
He mastered the role of little brother, embraced his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, and was the most perfect uncle that his nieces and nephews could ever have dreamed of having.
From a young age, it was so clear that Cole had a huge heart. Some of his dearest friendships were formed in preschool and are still going strong today. One special classmate was his cousin Journey who held a special place in his heart, as he took it upon himself to always be her bodyguard. His personality, kindness, and silly sense of humor brought even more special friends into his life.
As a boy his older brothers and his dad instilled in him the "Hickey Obsession" for hunting, fishing, and trapping. Time spent at the family farm led Cole to develop a strong respect for the land. One of his favorite past times was searching for deer sheds with his favorite little girl, his dog, Marlie.
He loved his teammates on the football field and at the baseball diamond.
His passion for pitching grew over the years and became one of his greatest joys. Just last week, while coming home from a baseball game he decided that he would like to become a baseball coach someday.
Cole was looking forward to his senior year and playing football with the "pancake platoon" and the rest of the cubs. After graduation he had planned on studying agronomy at Lake Area Tech in Watertown.
Cole is survived by his parents, his sisters Raquel Hickey & Leah (Bill) Nachtigal, his brothers Wes (Megan) Hickey, Wade (Abbey) Hickey, & Lane (Cassidy) Hickey, nieces & nephews Conner Hickey, Rory & Rudy Hickey, Brecklynn Hickey, Britton, Macksyn, Annisten, & Rhemesin Nachtigal, and grandmothers Shirley Hickey & Phyllis Feltman.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers Jerome Feltman & Cliff Hickey.
