Funeral services for Christine S. "Chris" Hloucha, 89, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Union Cemetery at Bijou Hills, SD. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain.

Christine S. Hloucha passed away September 6th 2025 at Sanford Long Term Care in Chamberlain SD.

She was born December 23rd, 1935 to Meliton and Mary (Medina) Garcia at San Luis CO. She attended school in San Luis and after graduating moved to Chamberlain SD to work at St Joseph Indian School. While in Chamberlain, she met and later married Donald Hloucha of Bijou Hills SD on March 2, 1956. To this union two children were born, Sheryl and John.

Chris and Don lived on the family farm where she enjoyed her gardening and socializing with friends and neighbors until their move to Regency Assisted Living in Chamberlain. While at the farm she enjoyed anything to do with the local community including assisting and directing with the Ola Play. Chris always had hot coffee and snacks available to anyone who stopped in.

Her biggest joy were her grandkids and great grandkids. She would take all the grandkids and let them spend time together at the farm.

Chris is survived by her daughter Sheryl and husband Dave Baldwin of Chamberlain and their two sons, Christopher Baldwin and wife Jodi of Chamberlain and Michael Baldwin of St Paul, MN, her son, John and wife Carol (Giese) Hloucha of Chamberlain and their two children, John and Shana Hloucha of Oacoma and Heather and Justin Rabern of Oacoma, four Great Grand kids Eric, Grayson and Keaton Hloucha and Laynie Rabern all of Oacoma, and her brother Sam Garcia and wife Laura of Commerce, CA.

Preceding her in death were her parents Meliton and Mary Garcia, sisters Yvonne DeHerrera, Yvette Gallegos, brothers, Donald Garcia and Conrad Garcia, and her husband of 60 years Donald Hloucha.
