Funeral services for Cecil S. Farmer, 62, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday April 2, 2026 at the Mato Akicita Gymnasium in Fort Thompson with burial in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery in Fort Thompson. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mato Akicita Gymnasium in Fort Thompson.
Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
Cecil Stephen Farmer, 62, of Fort Thompson was born August 18, 1963 to Dorothy (Spider) and Cecil Farmer in Chamberlain, SD.
Cecil rode off on his journey on March 27, 2026 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD with his family by his side.
Cecil worked various jobs for the CCST but was most dedicated to the Crow Creek Ambulance Service as an EMT for years. He loved helping the community and saving lives through his years as an EMT.
He later worked for the Crow Creek Tribal Schools Bus Driver for activities which he loved and was dedicated to the students. He was recognized for his dedication at LNI for his service. He would talk all the time of his memories made with all the students and staff.
Cecil loved being with his family and loved playing, cooking, baking, and building things for all his grandkids.
He loved his family so much and will be missed by us all.
He loved cruising his motorcycle (even though he couldn't hold it up).
Cecil and Bernie got married on May 16, 1990 but have been together for 41 years.
Cecil is survived by his wife Bernie Farmer, four kids Jessilyn Eagle, Summer Drapeau, Michael Farmer Sr., and Francis Farmer; 18 grandkids, two great grandsons, his mother Dorothy Farmer, sister Lavelva Farmer, his aunts Faith Spider and Lydia Marks, and uncle Amos Spider, all his cousins, nieces, and nephews too numerous to mention.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents Rev. Stephen and Ethel Spider, baby brother Alvin, father Ceci Francis Farmer, his uncles Rocky Spider, Ralph Spider, Richard Spider, Robert Spider, and his aunt Mary Spider.
