Funeral services for Catherine "Cathy" Reuer, 68, of Chamberlain SD will be 10:00 am Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain, SD.    Visitation will begin Tuesday at 5:00 pm with a scripture and rosary service at 7:00 pm at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain.

Catherine Mary "Cathy" Kehrwald was born February 4, 1951 to Larry and Collette (Fitzgerald) Kehrwald at Chamberlain, SD.  She attended school at Chamberlain graduating from Chamberlain High School in 1969.  After high school, Cathy attended the University of South Dakota where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Ed and Speech Pathology.  She later attained her Master's Degree in Technology for Education and Training from the University of South Dakota.

On August 4, 1973, Cathy was united in marriage to LeRoy D. Reuer in Chamberlain.  To this union, four children were born Matt, Dan, Becky, and Eric.  They made their home in Chamberlain where she taught and raised her children.  She began teaching the first grade in Chamberlain from 1973 to 1976 and returned to teaching in 1984 moving up to fifth grade which she did her entire career before retiring in 2018.

Cathy enjoyed quilting and reading but her greatest love was her children and grandchildren.

Cathy passed away on October 27, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain at the age of 68 years.  Gratefully sharing her life are her four children Matt Reuer and wife Courtney of Castle Rock, CO, Dan Reuer of Brookings, SD, Becky Hansen and husband J.D. of Chamberlain, SD, and Eric Reuer and wife Kayla of Sioux Falls, SD; twelve grandchildren Audrey, Ashley, Owen, Brooklyn, Alexys, Kysin, Danika, Morgan, Brayten, Sawyer, Lincoln, and Everson; three brothers Mike Kehrwald and wife Eileen of Cadiz, KY, John Kehrwald and wife DiAnn of Sioux Falls, SD and Kevin Kehrwald and wife Kitty of Ipswich, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a grandson Isaiah Reuer.
