Obituary

A Open House Celebration of Life for Carroll and Dorothy will be held on June 6, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. at The Green Palace Event Barn, 24655 - 354th Ave., Pukwana, SD.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pukwana Cemetery Foundation at First Dakota National Bank, P.O. Box 609, Chamberlain, SD 57325.

Carroll Priebe, age 84, of Pukwana, SD, passed away on March 27, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD.

Carroll Dean Priebe was born on August 25, 1936 in Ola, SD, to William and Minnie (Klemenhagen) Priebe. He attended Able School near Pukwana.

Carroll served in the Army from 1955, attending The Engineering School, then serving as a heavy equipment mechanic in Korea until he received an Honorable Discharge in 1957.

Carroll was united in marriage to Dorothy Blasius on September 24 th , 1958, celebrating 63 years of marriage, until Dorothy's passing in January of this year.

Carroll followed in his father and older brother's footsteps with his own construction business, Carroll Priebe Construction. He worked with his wife, Dorothy, for many years and the last 30 with his son, Jeff. Carroll never retired and was happiest when he was able to get in a good day's work.

Carroll was a man with a big heart and was always willing to help a family member or friend with his skills.

His hobbies through the years included flying planes, racing cars, bowling, and more recently, playing cards, dominoes and watching vintage westerns and NASCAR races. Carroll also enjoyed attending the lawn mower races.

Carroll is survived by his sons: Cliff Priebe, Jeff (Karla) Priebe, daughter Rita (Jim) Holter, grandchildren: Eugene Priebe, Bradley Priebe, Ethan Holter and Amelia Holter, sister Marcheta Anderson, sisters-in-law: Aileen Priebe, Irene Mines, Doris (Ed) Klose, Marie Pazour, Ruth Thomas and Gayle Blasius, brothers-in-law: Bob (Loretta) Blasius, Mike (Nancy) Blasius, Chuck (Dayle) Blasius.

Preceding him in death are his wife Dorothy Priebe, son Gene Priebe, parents: William and Minnie Priebe, brothers: Arnold (Grace) Priebe, William (Margueriete) Priebe, Lloyd Priebe, sisters: Wilma (Donald) Fisher, Beulah Larson, Cleota (Duane) Sly, Irene (George) Zastrow, and Laura Priebe, brothers-in-law: Dale Anderson, Donnie Blasius, Larry Blasius, Jim Picek, Delmer Mines, Chester Pazour and Dwayne Thomas, sister-in-law Peggy (Larry) Gagner.
