Carole L. Douville

Carole Martin Geppert Douville passed away peacefully at her home in Chamberlain, SD on February 21, 2025

Per her request no funeral service will be held and a private family service will be held at a later date, along with her husband Dana L. Douville who died July 2, 2020.

Carole L. Martin was born September 11, 1937 at Chamberlain, SD to Art & Carrie (Picek) Martin and grew up on the family farm south of Chamberlain with her siblings.

She attended Country School and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1955 where Carole was a Chamberlain Cubs High School Cheerleader.

On October 8, 1955 Carole was united in marriage to D'Wayne Geppert at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain, SD.  To this union six children were born, Carolyn, Cindy, Alan, Bill, Brenda & Jim. D'Wayne & Carole farmed in the Kimball area for 17 years.  They were involved in the Brule County 4-H clubs with their children where Carole served as a 4-H Club Leader.  D'Wayne passed away from a car accident in 1972 in Montana.

On September 3, 1977 Carole was united in marriage to Dana L. Douville in Reno, Nevada where they made their home until 2005, when they moved back to Chamberlain to retire.

After Dana passed in 2020 Carole once again made her way back to Reno to make her home with her son Jim but after his passing, she returned to Chamberlain in July 2024 where she resided until her death.

Carole enjoyed bowling in her younger years and boating, fishing, gardening and canning with her partner Dana.  She always loved to play cards with her grandson James, play Uno and checkers with her great grandson Quintin, watching the PBR and the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes & Andy Reid were her favorites!

Throughout Carole's life she had worked at St. Joseph Indian School, Brown & Williams Tobacco Company, Scolari's Foods, Macy's Department Stores demoing products and worked at Sanford Care Center Hospitality until poor health took over.

She was forever an animal lover of cats and dogs and had oh so many over the years. (Coon, Slinky, Jet, etc. and leaves behind her two cats Tuxedo and Squirt.

Grateful for sharing her life are her daughters Carolyn Cooper (Greg), Reno, NV, Cindy Myers (Randy), Oacoma, SD, Brenda Burull (Rod) Chamberlain, SD and son  Alan Geppert, Reno, NV,  nine Grandchildren, 16 Great grandchildren, five Great Great grandchildren.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents Art & Carrie (Picek) Martin, first husband D'Wayne Geppert, second husband Dana L. Douville, sons Bill (William) Geppert, Jim (James) Geppert, brother Homer Martin,  sister in-law Loretta (Dyce) Martin, sister Marjorie (Martin) Christensen, son-in-laws Bob Cooper, Quint Burull and Granddaughter Tammara (Geppert) King.

Memorials will be directed to "Fishing For A Cure" and "The Casey Rescue Fund"  at  220 W. Lawler Ave, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
