Services for Carl M. Medicine, 62, of Fort Thompson, will be Monday, February 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson with burial in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery at Fort Thompson, SD.

Carl Michael Medicine Crow Sr. made his journey to the Spirit World on February 3, 2021 at 6:00 am at Sanford Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Carl Sr. was born to Edison Medicine Crow and Mildred St. John Lengkeek on April 7, 1958.

His school years were spent at Pierre Indian Learning Center and Stephan Indian Mission where he graduated.

After high school he held various jobs.  In 1991 he moved to Claremore, OK to live with his sister Charlotte.  He was employed as a security guard for a private company while he was there.

Carl was united in marriage to Crystal Estes on December 30, 1983 and to this union four children were born Carly, Carl Jr., Leanna, and Ross.

Carl's favorite pastimes were playing cards, dominoes, Yahtzee, and whistling.  He affectionately called everyone Indian girl or Indian boy.  He was an artist at heart and drew many beautiful pictures.

Carl is survived by his wife Crystal; four daughters Nada of Minnesota, Dove of Sioux Falls, SD, Carly of Sioux Falls, SD and Leanna of Fort Thompson, SD; his hunka daughter Jerrica; sons Carl Jr. of Fort Thompson, SD, Matt of Chamberlain, SD, and Ross of Lower Brule, SD; two sisters Charlotte (Leslie) Medicine Crow-Dye of Santa Fe, NM and Lisa (Elmer) Rockwood of Fort Thompson, SD; three brothers Lyle Medicine Crow, Alan Medicine Crow, and Peter Lengkeek all of Fort Thompson, SD; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family.

Preceding him in death were his parents Edison Medicine Crow and Mildred St. John, his sister Lois Medicine Crow, his paternal grandparents Fred and Sophia (Brave) Medicine Crow, and maternal grandparents Rose Bird and Van Buren St. John.
