Funeral services for Carey (Harrison) Rogers, 55, of Fort Thompson, SD will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Mato Akicita Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Mato Akicita Gymnasium in Fort Thompson, SD.
Anyone wishing to follow, the procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 3:00 pm.
Carey LaDonna Rae Harrison was born to Ella J Irving and Edward Harrison on February 23rd, 1971 in Chamberlain, SD. She was raised by her maternal grandmother Malvina Shields in Fort Thompson, SD along with her siblings. She attended Fort Thompson elementary and Crow Creek High School. In later years she started working with TERO and her beloved bartending job with at the Lode Star Casino. Her favorite hobbies were napping with her cats and also loved having her morning coffee and gossip session with her favorite uncle Rick Voice.
Carey passed away on March 22, 2026 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 55 years.
She is survived by her father Edward Harrison of Mission SD. Uncle Randy Shields SR (Cheryl) of Fort Thompson. Her oldest brother Richard K Irving of Sioux Falls SD, sisters Heather Irving of Fort Thompson and Tanya Estes of Lower Brule. and her children Richard, Paul, Kylee, Halle, Lanea & Angelina of Fort Thompson SD. Lawrence Irving of Pierre SD. Maranda Harrison of Pipestone MN. & special nephew/son Robyn Drapeau of Pierre SD. and many nieces & nephews and of course her animals.
She especially loved being a grandma to her grandchildren & fur grandma. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Malvina Shields and paternal grandfather Lawrence Irving, her mother, Ella J Irving, brother, Malcolm L Harrison, her uncles Dale Irving, William Shields and aunt Mona Burroughs.
