Funeral services for Bonna F. Casey, 95, of Chamberlain, SD will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm with a Scripture/rosary service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, a reminder that social distancing is to be practiced at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund, Chamberlain, SD or Chamberlain High School Kiwanis Scholarship Fund, Chamberlain, SD.
Bonna Faye Casey, 95, passed away with her daughter at her side at Brookdale Assisted Living in Fort Collins, Colorado on July 24, 2020.
Bonna is survived by her daughter, Mary Margaret, son in law Michael A. Davis, son Dan W. Casey, granddaughter Brenna Casey, many loving nieces and nephews and their families, and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Mark V. Casey, grandson Mark A. Casey, her parents Henry G. Petersen and Mable Victoria Gripp Petersen, and brother and sister in law Donald G. Petersen and Rosie Marie Deiss Petersen.
Bonna was born on March 13, 1925 in Chamberlain, SD. At an early age she lived in Gann Valley, SD and Murdo, SD until the family move back to Chamberlain where she graduated from Chamberlain High School. She then moved to Seattle, Washington to work for Boeing until her mother passed away at an early age when Bonna returned to Chamberlain to care for her father. It was during that time when the service men returned home from WWII that she met the love of her life, Mark V. Casey and they united in marriage on November 6 th , 1946 in Chamberlain.
Mark and Bonna were second generation owners of Casey Drug and Jewelry Co. for many years and upon retirement sold the business to nephew Terry & Sharon Casey.
Bonna was involved in many clubs and organizations in Chamberlain to include Travelers Club, St. James Alter Society, SD Historical Society but her biggest love was her bridge clubs. Hosting Family Holidays and gatherings and playing bridge with her many friends was definitely a highlight in her life.
She will be missed by her family and the many people that were lucky enough to have known her. Her wonderful sense of humor will keep everyone in fun Bonna stories for years to come.
